Bath time

Maisie loves bath time and can spend hours and hours playing in the tub. She loves dropping color tablets in the water, usually likes (but none today) lots of bubbles and of course playing with all her toys as well as writing* and painting** on the walls of the tub and then washing it off and "cleaning" everything. Her favorite thing though is playing with and washing herself with her Tinkerbell foam soap which is super thick and creamy as it squirts from a can like shaving cream. She loves the lavender color and the smell which she says is delicious. Unfortunately we're almost out of her beloved soap and I can't find it anywhere. Oh how I wish that I had had the foresight to pick up dozens of the sets when there were on clearance for mere pennies at Wal*mart after Christmas. Does anyone know of or have suggestions on where to find some great, super creamy and delicious smelling foaming soap for my girl? Thanks!!

* Bathtub Crayons

1 cup grated Ivory soap from a bar (NOT the laundry soap)
1/4 cup warm water
4-6 drops food coloring

Mix water, soap and food color together in medium bowl. Stir till the mixture begins to stiffen. Remove mixture from the bowl and knead until it is the consistency of a very thick dough. Spoon crayon mix into cookie molds or plastic ice cube trays and then place the crayons into the freezer for about 10 minutes. Pop the crayons out and allow to dry overnight or until hard. Maisie loves to write on herself and since these are soap they get her nice and clean!

** Bathtub Finger Paints

1/3 cup clear mild liquid dish detergent
1 Tbs. cornstarch
food coloring
muffin tin or ice cube tray

Mix the soap and cornstarch together and then pour the mixture, in equal parts, into several sections of a muffin tin or plastic ice cube tray. Add one or two drops of food coloring to each section of the tray and mix to get the desired color.

I have not had any problems with the food coloring staining our tub as Maisie doesn't let it stay on the walls very long, but that doesn't mean it won't stain yours so test before using.

  1. Does the food coloring stain the tub at all. They sound fun but I'd be afraid I couldn't get it off.

  2. Such a change from the baby days when you couldn't get the girl in the tub...she's come a long way!

  3. I was just going to say what Tiff just said! I remember the day she and Liza played in the tub and Maisie loved it!

Love the recipes for bath time fun. Something I will have to do when Tate gets a little older.

  4. My daughter loves bathtime too! She has such an imagination and I love to catch her singing in the tub.

Be careful of soaking too long in the tub and bubblebaths though. Some girls are prone to UTI's from too long in the water or using too much bubblebath and soap. I speak from experience!

  5. I know this is probably more than you want to spend but I think this set includes the foam you are looking for:

Or search for Foam Soap by Alex Toys. Hope this helps!

  6. I LOVE that foam soap! I wish I could find some here. I will have to keep an eye out for it. Liliana loves to play in the bath, and uses her bath crayons all the time (of course DH helps her with complex mathematical equations!). How fun!
