Kip, front-hip-circle, cast

IMG_4591eThis afternoon Maisie’s teammate Alyssa came over to play.  I have to share a little chuckle that I had with the two of them.  I took them to pick up pizza at Uncle Maddio’s (because I can get Maisie her allergy safe gluten-free with vegan cheese pizza) and on the drive home they were playing a little math and spelling game and I heard the following:

Alyssa:  I can spell “China.”
Maisie: I was born in China.
Alyssa: You were? You don't look Chinese.
Maisie: That's because I'm growing my bangs out.

IMG_4590eIt’s been raining all day (and we’re expecting rain until Saturday) so the girls found ways to keep busy inside.  They played in Maisie’s bedroom for a while, they set up a fort with the gymnastics mats, they watched a movie and ate popcorn and they colored together.

IMG_4593eOf course with two gymnasts there was a lot of standing on their hands and playing on the mats and beam.

IMG_4594eThe girls also played on the bar.  Look at those nice straight legs and pointed toes.

Maisie’s been practicing her kip, front-hip-circle, cast and I finally got it on video…but don’t blink as it’s fast.

I have a bloggy friend who is doing the “no white stuff” diet and she reminded me of a great recipe that I have over on Cook Lisa Cook which fits in perfectly with her diet.  Eammon especially loved these Hearty Sausage, Mushroom & Cheddar Mini Quiches so I’m going to have to make them again very soon.  Click on the link or the picture to be taken to the recipe.

  1. One time during dance rehearsal, my daughter pointed to a Senior dancer, who was the only other Chinese dancer with the studio at the time. She told her classmate "Look, she is Chinese, just like me." The African American classmate looked at my daughter and said "You're Chinese?"
I laughed inside and was so thankful that at that age, they saw no color, only friends!

  2. Way to go Maisie! Hannah and I love to watch your gymnastics!

  3. Looking good Maisie! We do need to get together this summer. Maybe we can shoot for sometime in July.

  4. That conversation between the two girls was hilarious!

And the gymnastics? I'm always blown away. Talented little girl!
