Maisie “safe” with April

photo (2)e Sunday we met up with friends Ilene, Michael & April at zpizza where Maisie and those with many food allergies can enjoy “safe” pizza and salads.

photo eSince we first found out about Maisie’s allergies back in November, we’ve only twice taken her out to restaurants and those were both in Aruba where I brought her meal with us.  So Sunday was the first time that she got to feel “normal” and enjoy restaurant food with everyone else.  In addition to their regular pizzas, zpizza offers gluten-free crusts and vegan cheese so no wheat, egg or dairy thus “safe” for my little girl.  Though the restaurant is not exclusively gluten-free and vegan they did their best to prevent any cross-contamination and the chef even put on gloves before touching anything relating to Maisie’s pizza.

photo (8)eUnfortunately Maisie was tired and a bit out-of-sorts but she did enjoy being with her friend and she really enjoyed her “safe” restaurant pizza.  In fact, we all enjoyed our pizza, soups and salads so I know that we’ll be visiting zpizza next time the craving strikes.

These Rolo Brownie Bites on the other hand are definitely NOT Maisie “safe” but this recipe has been getting a lot of hits lately so I thought that I’d feature it over here.  If you’re looking for something chocolaty-caramel sweet to satisfy your cravings, just click on the picture to be taken to Cook Lisa Cook and the recipe.

That really was VERY good pizza. I loved knowing April could eat her safe-pizza, too.

  2. I'm so glad places like these exist now. We had a few restaurants we could frequent when Linlee was gluten and dairy free and we really looked forward to going out.
