TOPs

Two weeks ago I mentioned in my post that Maisie tried out for a special team at her gym.  The team is TOPs (Talent Opportunity Program) which is a talent search and educational program for female gymnasts ages 7-10.  Maisie has been talking about wanting to be on TOPs since June 2010 and now she’s a very happy little gymnast as she made the team!

IMG_9641eThis morning was Maisie’s first practice and she was super excited to be starting TOPs, have another day of practice at the gym and to be working with Coach Hardy.

IMG_9642eMaisie’s favorite part of the practice was working on press handstands but she also enjoyed working on the rope climb, conditioning and the cast handstands.  In fact there wasn’t anything that Maisie didn’t enjoy, she loved the entire practice.  I think given the opportunity Maisie would move into the gym and live there forever.  I’m glad that she enjoys gymnastics so much and that she has the opportunity to pursue her passion.

My passion is eating…and cooking but eating wonderful tasting foods and right now it’s all about cucumbers as our garden has been producing them at an amazing pace.  If your garden is overflowing with cucumbers I have the perfect recipe posted today over on Cook Lisa Cook for a Spicy Asian Cucumber Salad.IMG_8987e2The salad is absolutely delicious with wonderful flavors and a good kick of heat from the peppers.  Perfect for summer, no cooking involved and super fresh and tasty.  I hope that you’ll give this recipe a try.

  1. Way to go Maisie! I'm so glad she is loving it. Maybe the gym will let you put a little cot in the corner and then Maisie can live there. I think she would love that. LOL! ;D
