A-Maisie-ing Maisie and friends at the maize maze 2012

Sunday morning Maisie and Eammon & I met up with Lisa, Doug & Briana and Kathy, Matt & Chani for our fifth annual Cagle’s day where we enjoyed a day of farm fun and getting lost in the maize maze.  As always it was a fun day for the girls and the adults.

IMG_5552e1We arrived at the farm when it first opened and it was chilly, but thankfully not as cold as last year.

IMG_5556eWe started our morning with the maize maze.  Each year I look at my entrance to the maze photo and think that these girls are growing up way too quickly.

Maze 2011 Here they are in 2011, not a huge difference from this year.

Maze 2010 But in 2010 I was still seeing those toddler faces, especially on Chani.

Maze 2009Toddlers, all three in 2009

Maze 2008 Such tiny cutie-patooties at our inaugural visit in 2008.

IMG_5561e As usual, the girls were off and running, leading the way as the adults trailed behind.

IMG_5562e As the girls ran, we strolled and found some beautiful morning glories growing amongst the corn stalks.

IMG_5564eWe’ve never noticed these growing before but maybe they were just open this morning as it was still cool and overcast when we walked the maze.

IMG_5568eNo matter the reason, they were beautiful to see.

IMG_5585eMaisie and Chani went on the pony ride but both found it a bit slow and boring and prefer just riding a horse which isn’t tethered and going in slow circles.

IMG_5597eThen it was a bit of bounce time on the bounce pillow.

IMG_5604eThen the girls who never stop, stopped and were tuckered out.

IMG_5606e After dragging the girls up and brushing them off, it was time for the annual moms and daughters picture.

IMG_5620eWe stop for a little snack then headed across the road to see the animals and take the hayride.

IMG_5622eThe girls took turns measuring each other.

IMG_5625eFirst we headed up to the barn to feed some of the animals.

IMG_5628eMaisie especially liked the sweet little calves.

IMG_5636eThen it was off to watch the milking demo.

IMG_5633eI guess after four years in a row of hearing the same demo, the boys weren’t oh-too interested and all three were caught entertaining themselves with their phones.

IMG_5650eThree little sweeties ready for the hayride.

IMG_5643eWe visited with some of the cows out in the pasture.

IMG_5653eMaisie’s no longer afraid to feed any of the animals.

IMG_5668eThe girls found a few big pumpkins.

Lunch E After our time at the farm we headed off for a hibachi lunch.  The girls enjoyed lollipops after their meal.

It was a fun day and Maisie always enjoyed seeing her friends.  In fact the girls wanted to continue their day together with a play date but that had to wait for another day.  Maisie was tired after all the running around and sugar and crashed out on the drive home.  She’s looking forward to seeing her pals again, less than two weeks until they’re together again.
