Last day of Second Grade

IMG_4005e1Time is passing way too quickly and I just want to stop the clock and keep my little Maisie Miao Miao my little baby girl but she’s not cooperating.  Here it is, her final day of second grade and she’s all excited and giddy already calling herself a third grader!  How is it that she’s getting older and flying through all these grades yet I haven’t aged but a few months since she was first placed in my arms  ;-)

IMG_9901e12Before I get all the questions, I’ll try and answer some.  School hasn’t officially ended, that happens in three weeks.  Today though was Maisie’s last day as she and I are heading off on a bit of an adventure so we’ll be finishing up her school work while we travel.

IMG_7281e1[2]Not only will Maisie be away from school for the next three weeks but I’ll also be away from the computer so you’ll have to come back in a few weeks to see what we were up to.  There will be a really fabu recipe posting over on Cook Lisa Cook on May 7 so please jump over there and check it out when it posts.

IMG_2169b[3]In other news, Maisie did well with her surgery and the first day after awoke to tell me that she could breathe.  Unfortunately though each day since she has become more and more congested and has daily complained of sinus pain and headaches.  Her doctor says that it’s common to have headaches and congestion for one to two weeks after surgery but today she felt unwell enough to call me from school.  I was able to get her in to see her pediatrician who drew blood and determined that she has a viral infection, poor little girl just can’t catch a break.

P5130035a[1]With the virus, it’s just letting things run its course and with the infection in her sinuses, she’s on day 20 of her antibiotic so ten days to go.  Hopefully by the time she finishes the antibiotic her headaches and congestion will be gone.  I really don’t want her to have to endure another more invasive surgery.  We return to the doctor on May 15 where we’ll hopefully have the culture results and more information.

First day of 5K[3]Second grade was a really good year for Maisie and she finished out the year with a fun field trip with her classmates.

photo (7)e Tuesday the first and second graders visited the Tellus Museum.

photo (10)eThe children all gathered with their leader to hear about the program they would be attending.

photo (11)eThey didn’t get to visit most of the museum as their program was only in the Big Backyard gallery.

photo (8)eThe children got to be Jr. scientists with magnets.

photo (1)e Maisie got to partner with her favorite classmate, Sean. {said in a sweet little voice, with a flip of the hair and an eye flutter}

Maisie had a wonderful year, loved her teacher Miss. Lisa and all her classmates.  She’s going to miss her friends over the summer but will hopefully have some play dates and come August she’ll be excited to see everyone and return to school.

As I mentioned above, don’t forget to check out Cook Lisa Cook at noon on May 7 when all the Crazy Cooking Challenge participants post what they think is the ultimate grilled cheese sandwich.  I’ll give you a hint on mine, it’s totally outrageous, hot, cheesy, creamy, bacony, buttery, crispy over-the-top deliciousness and there’s no way to tame it down so please check it out.  A new recipe posted today, Peanut Butter & Jelly Bars which I made for my Improv Cooking Challenge.  These bars are truly delicious and if no one said anything you’d never know that they are Maisie “safe”, gluten-free, vegan and don’t contain any processed sugar or high fructose corn syrup.  Just click on the picture to be taken to the recipe.

Also, if you don’t want to miss any of my recipes on Cook Lisa Cook or updates about Maisie on this blog, become a follower, the links are in the side bar of each blog and you need to sign up for each blog separately.  Thanks for reading and have a great few weeks.
