I haven’t taken a picture of Maisie since last weekend in Gulf Shores so today I’m posting the cell phone pictures I took on the beach.
After Maisie’s meet on Friday we got to enjoy a full *gorgeous* Saturday on the beach before returning to the gym Sunday morning to watch some other teammates compete and then the long drive home.
Since coming home it’s just been crazy getting back into our routine and on top of that, I was really feeling rundown. On Thursday night I spiked a fever and Friday morning both Maisie and I were running fevers with sore throats and coughs and I was sounding more like Barry White than myself. I knew because of my propensity to have any chest cold spiral into pneumonia I had to make a trip to the doctor, who immediately started treating me for bronchitis. This past weekend was just lost as we never left the house, spending our days in bed resting and sleeping for hours on end. Thankfully Maisie’s fever seemed to break on Sunday and she started feeling better but I was going in the opposite direction and soon after Sophie picked her up this morning to take her to practice, Eammon took me to the ER as I couldn’t catch my breath and each time I coughed I got tunnel vision and nearly passed out. It was good that I went in as they put in an IV and pumped in some pain meds, high dose steroids, antibiotics and some much needed fluids and also gave me a breathing treatment. By the time I was released I was breathing much easier and able to come home and rest comfortably. Best of all, they confirmed that we were only looking at a severe case of bronchitis and it has not gone into pneumonia, and hopefully won’t! Going to take it easy this week and heal and hopefully soon we’ll all be healthy and back to normal again.
