As I mentioned in my previous post our home has been busy with activity inside and out. Wednesday I shared the changes which we did outside and today I’m sharing the inside changes. I know that most of the changes are minor, new curtains in the living, dining and front entrance, a few accessories, new paint in the master and new family room furniture but I think it updates the look of our home. I’ve included both the before and after pictures for comparison and in the living and dining rooms, both day and night photos as some things can’t be seen well with the sunlight flooding in.
Current living room at night. No huge changes but I love my new look with ceiling to floor sliding panels over the windows and matching panels beside the front door.
Current Living room during the day. There are two newer items in the room, the metal thistle & vase table lamp and we replaced our coffee table with a leather, tone on tone giraffe print ottoman.
Current dining room. The French doors leading to the patio previously had venetian blinds which we never lowered or closed so I decided to remove them and I added sliding panels which match the ones in the living room and entrance way.
Current dining room during the day. Light reflecting off the lake just floods in so the panels really help temper that light.
Entrance to master suite. It’s amazing how much of a difference paint can make. I have held off painting the master bedroom as the bathroom really needs a gut-rehab and I figured we’d do it all at one time but we have yet to start that project. I finally got sick of plain, cheap, builder’s white walls so I had the walls and woodwork painted and then I added a decorative opalescent finish to the walls. So no, it’s not wall paper, it’s really just paint.

View from the entrance hall today. Here again we get a lot of reflective light off the water so the room is bright.
Our family room is the most used room in the house as it’s right at the kitchen, it’s where all of Maisie’s toys are, the television and our gorgeous view of the lake.
I had been waiting for Maisie to get a little older before replacing our old sectional and finally back in April we got beautiful new leather furniture. It’s difficult to tell by the pictures but the walls are actually a soft sage color, very similar to the sofa & love seat.
Another view of the family room today.
Similar view of the family room in 2006.
Family room from above (2006), before the onslaught of Maisie’s toys. Gosh, how nice, clean and open it used to be but Maisie’s well worth all the additional clutter and stuff.
We also did a bit of work in Maisie’s room but that’s going to be another post so watch for that one.
Our next project once the weather cools down is to re-landscape the front of our home where we had most of the plantings removed and then down the line, all four bathrooms need to be remodeled…OY! For now though I’m enjoying and loving our new look.
Yesterday before Maisie’s gymnastics practice Maisie and I went and got pedicures. Maisie enjoyed the leg massage and chose sparkly purple for her toes. It’s funny, neither Maisie nor I enjoy getting manicures so it was just our toes which got all prettied up.
Some nights with all the workers inside and out I just wanted to end the day with a nice little drink and my Wallaby Darned was a perfect choice. This is a delicious, fruity, slushy and strong copycat recipe of Outback Steakhouse’s drink of the same name. This is perfect on a hot day or to end a long and stressful one.
