Introducing our Godson, Nathaniel Seth. Born Sunday, August 19 @ 5:21am.
Wednesday night I returned home late to a very excited voice mail from my friend Judy letting me know that she had been matched with a newborn boy. After calling her back and getting all the details it wasn’t long before we were both booked on a flight to Texas for first thing Friday morning. I quickly had to get all of Maisie’s things organized, labeled and laid out, do laundry, get her gym and school outfits together, pack her snacks and meals, do a bit of cooking for dinners for both her and Eammon, reschedule my carpool responsibilities (thanks Sophie), take Eammon and show him where Maisie’s school was located and how to do carpool, write out an hour-by-hour schedule for Eammon and Maisie to follow, cancel my at-least-six-months-in-waiting lunch date with my friend Ilene and most importantly, get my head around being away from my little girl…because other than when I was in the hospital, I have never spent a night away from her.
Early Friday morning Judy and I flew to Texas, checked into the hotel and were off to the agency. By dinner time I was a Godmother to one cutie little boy. This morning after one of his feedings Nathaniel happily spent a few hours sleeping on my chest. So many memories of my Maisie Miao Miao sleeping the very same way. Boy do I miss my girl.
Yesterday Maisie called me about six times to check in and find out how I was doing and to tell me she missed me. She asked again why I was in Texas and I told her that I was helping Judy with her new baby. Maisie’s comment “Why can’t Judy just find a husband to help her out.” She’s a funny girl. Not that she meant that Judy should have a husband but more so, that if she had a husband her Mama would not have had to leave her. Tuesday I’ll be back and pick my girl up from school and I can’t wait!
I know, me, me, me, me, me. Guess I should show who my little Nathaniel Seth actually gets to go home with, his Mama Judy. Big congrats Judy, you two make a beautiful family and thanks for taking me along to share in the experience and for honoring us with being Nathaniel Seth’s Godparents.
A few days before leaving for Texas my friend Colleen put the idea of salmon in my head as she was making my Coriander Roasted Salmon with Cilantro Yogurt Sauce. Though I absolutely adore that recipe, I knew I had a new one I wanted to try, Toasted Sesame Ginger Salmon with Sesame Ginger Honey Glaze and WOW was it a huge hit with all of us. Maisie ate huge portions and asked to have it again for dinner even after knowing that we had finished it the previous night. I will be making this salmon dish time and time again as it was totally delicious. Click on the link or the picture to be taken to Cook Lisa Cook and the recipe.

ReplyDeleteWow, you did way more for your family than I would have. I would have shown Rob how to get to the school and said, "Don't forget to feed your child while I'm away. See ya." You are a super nice wife/mommy.
