Maisie’s stained glass pumpkin

IMG_5890eMaisie and her classmates, for an at-home project, each had to decorate a pumpkin, without cutting it, turning it into something else.  Maisie decided to turn her pumpkin into a stained glass window and using Mod Podge and  tissue paper, made a lovely decorated pumpkin.  She enjoyed the project so much that she continued it with the three little pumpkins that we got when we recently visited Cagle’s

Maisie’s not feeling Halloween this year, didn’t want the house decorated and told us that she didn’t want to go trick-or-treating.  Halloween eve she’s at the gym for a full practice, she doesn’t really know anyone in the neighborhood and with her allergies she can’t eat most of the candy so I can see why it holds little appeal.  So instead of trick or treating I planned a dinner at one of her favorite restaurants, with one of her friends (who doesn’t celebrate Halloween) whom she doesn’t get to see oh-too often.  Maisie’s really excited about her alternate Halloween eve plans.

We have been enjoying gorgeous weather here in Georgia but next week it will be turning cold, so not looking forward to that but hopefully it will pass quickly and soon it will be spring.  Our garden is on its last legs and we’re getting the last of the harvest this week.  Today though I’m featuring a recipe which I made numerous times over the growing season, Broiled Tomatoes.  Though I could make these all year long, they’re truly best with fresh from the garden tomatoes.  Click on the picture or the link to be taken to Cook Lisa Cook and the recipe.

  2. Oh Lisa, you crack me up. Hopefully soon it will be spring? Um, you've got fall and winter to get through first. (I'm the exact same way having to wait out spring and summer for my favorite seasons, which are NOW.)

Love the stained glass pumpkin. It's so pretty.

I'm glad you let Maisie make these decisions and not force her into the norm. What fun for her to have dinner with her special friend! Have a great time!!
